In 2017, the Freaks Action Network (FAN) was created to turn the positive energy of live music into positive change in the world. Past initiatives have supported causes like music education, cancer research, and hunger relief. The COVID-19 pandemic has turned the world upside down and now it’s the live music world that needs help. In response to the hardship caused by COVID-19, we have created the FAN Musicians Relief Fund to assist professional musicians and help make up for lost gigs and income by providing one-time grants of $400 to eligible musicians.

The FAN Musicians Relief Fund will continue to award grants until live music clubs are permitted to reopen in New York City or until there are no more funds to award, whichever comes first.

To be eligible you must:

  • Be a professional musician that derived at least 50% of your income from performing live music in 2019,

  • Be a resident of NYC (proof of address required:  e.g., utility bill, government-issued ID, etc.), and

  • Complete all the questions in the application.

Starting with the sixth phase FAN will award $12,000 (30 grants) for each phase of the program. The seventh phase ended on February 28, 2021. The eighth phase will run from March 15, 2021 through March 31, 2021. All applications received by FAN during this period that meet the eligibility criteria will be included in a pool, from which 30 grantees will be randomly selected.

Subsequent phases will be announced on the website. Please check back here for updates.
